Saying Where You Are Staying
Another important part of conversation you may
need when you first start talking to someone (especially if you
are foreign and visiting France) is how to say where you live,
or where you are staying.
To say where you live, You say “Je
vis…” This is “I live…”
Another thing you might like to say is
where about you live. For example, an apartment or a house. To
do this, you say “On habite dans un appartement”.
To say “I live alone” you would say “Je
vis seul”. Or if you are a woman, you would say “Je vis
seule”.
Something you may find more useful if
you’re visiting France on a holiday, is to say where you are
staying.
For example, to say “I’m staying at the
Hotel” you would say “Je suis descendu a l‘hotel”. To say how
long you are staying, you simply say “Je suis a Paris pour une
semaine”. This would mean “I am staying in Paris for a
week”.
You may use the phrases described above
when you are asked the question “Vous etres descendu a quell
hotel?” which means “Which hotel are you staying
at?”
